Which Macs can run EditWall?
The current Mac App Store release requires macOS 13.0 or later and an Apple M1 chip or later. Intel Macs are not included in the current App Store compatibility listing.
Check the Mac App Store listing for current availability and requirements before purchasing.
Bring your photographs, keep your workflow.
Import local folders containing JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF, TIFF, and HEIC/HEIF images, including iPhone photos. EditWall also reads embedded previews from many common RAW formats used by Canon, Nikon, Sony, Fujifilm, Panasonic, OM System/Olympus, Pentax, Sigma, Hasselblad, Phase One, and DNG-based cameras.
RAW support uses the preview inside the file. Compatibility and available detail depend on the camera model and its embedded preview. EditWall does not develop RAW sensor data. For a predictable rendering of your finished edit, export a JPEG from your RAW editor and bring that into EditWall.
Use Wall to group and sequence photographs, Inspect to compare alternatives, Carousel to review a swipe sequence, Zine to pace pages and spreads, and Spaces to preview work in gallery and interior settings.
Know exactly what you can export.
Carousel: ordered JPEG files
Choose an aspect ratio to set the output dimensions. Carousel supports 1–20 slides; longer sequences need to be reduced or exported as a deliberate subset.
| Layout | Width × height |
|---|---|
| Portrait 4:5 | 1080 × 1350 |
| Portrait 3:4 | 1080 × 1440 |
| Square 1:1 | 1080 × 1080 |
| Widescreen 16:9 | 1920 × 1080 |
Follow our Instagram carousel guide for a real fourteen-slide export, including images that span several slides.
Zine: a PDF of booklet spreads
Choose A4, US Letter, Legal, or Tabloid sheet sizes in portrait or landscape. Zines support 4–48 pages in multiples of four. The PDF arranges the pages into booklet printing order, with one sheet-side spread per PDF page. Images are rendered for 300 pixels per inch at the chosen size.
The selected sheet size describes the full spread, not an individual folded page. Check a proof and your printer’s duplex settings before a full print run. Source image and RAW preview quality still limit the detail in the result.
For a worked example, follow How to sequence photos for a zine, from grouped alternatives to a booklet proof.
Spaces: a JPEG scene
Export the composed gallery or interior scene as a 2560 × 1440 pixel JPEG. This is a presentation of your photographs in a setting, rather than an export of each photograph at its original resolution.
Carousel and Spaces use the dimensions above; Zine resolution follows the selected sheet size. These outputs do not provide a general custom pixel-size control.
Your edit stays on your Mac.
Save your work as a local .wall project. EditWall references source photographs in your folders and keeps previews locally. Keep the original files available in their expected locations and include both your projects and photographs in your backups.
Core arranging, comparison, and sequencing work offline without a cloud account. Downloading the app, obtaining updates, and purchase verification can require access to Apple’s services.
Normal grouping, sequencing, and layout edits do not overwrite the original photo files. Explicit XMP update actions can create or change separate metadata sidecar files beside your photographs; those actions are different from ordinary changes saved in your wall.
See our privacy policy for the distinction between the local app and website analytics.
How Lightroom metadata fits in.
Follow our Lightroom workflow guide for RAW-folder import with XMP sidecars, a tested JPEG handoff, and the limits of metadata sharing.
EditWall reads basic EXIF/XMP metadata and supported Lightroom crop information where available in a file or an adjacent XMP sidecar. Metadata kept only inside a Lightroom catalog is not automatically available to EditWall.
This is metadata compatibility, not a live Lightroom catalog connection or a complete reproduction of Lightroom’s Develop adjustments. Use a rendered JPEG when you need your finished color and tonal edits to appear exactly as exported from your photo editor.
Explicit XMP update actions write supported metadata to sidecars. Review those actions before using them in a workflow shared with another editor.
A one-time purchase for EditWall v1.
Solo includes a perpetual EditWall v1 license, v1.x updates, local projects, and the export options described above. No subscription is required for these v1 features. This does not promise future paid major versions or Cloud services.
See current pricing and offer dates, the App Store purchase listing, and our terms.
EditWall Cloud is planned, not available today.
Cloud sync, shared walls, team libraries, permissions, and version history are planned Cloud features. They are not part of the current local app, and a Solo purchase does not include a promise of these services. Cloud pricing will be announced before launch; planned features may change.
